A present from my in-laws, this rug is woven on 100% New Zealand wool and is remarkably soft and extremely thick. The detail is amazing and I wish you could all see it in person.
I'm looking into having all of my art reproduced in this way
and selling them online.

They chose a web image in order to surprise me with the rug and I am anxious to see what a high res file will produce. This was created using a million-dollar system that scans and interprets the source photo and then weaves the wool to form the image. I'm told this particular size (which I will measure for you) took about 4 hours to produce. Not bad!

Are you saying the rug was produced by the computor, or just the image?

An interesting way to reproduce your images.

The computer actually operates the part that weaves the rug too. (^_^)

okay then. I thought that might be the case. I had a friend that was in the sign business, and she had a computor that could scan an copy any size of print or graphic and then print it out on humongous sheets of paper. The roll of paper was like 8 feet wide by 50 feet long. Amazing technology.

I know - I sometimes love technology!

Yeah, it's like anything else. Sometimes it's wonderful and amazing and sometimes it's a PITA (pain in the ass.)

Wow, though I'd feel a little funny walking on an eye, it's looks amazing

haa - yeah, I don't think I'll walk on the eye now that you mention it. It would be very characteristic of my nature to always step over it! (I don't have a perfect home for it yet so it remains rolled in it's box. Once we remodel upstairs, it'll have a permanent place in our master bedroom.)
